Vivekanand Vaidyak Pratishthan is a dedicated organization committed to social transformation through healthcare and community welfare, founded on January 12, 2001. Vivekanand Vaidyak Pratishthan was established by a group of doctors & social workers with a powerful vision — to make quality healthcare accessible to underserved communities. Inspired by the belief that healthcare is not just a service, but a tool for social transformation, the foundation aims to bridge the gap in medical care for rural and remote populations.
We operate a multi-specialty hospital that ensures quality healthcare reaches people from rural and semi-urban areas. We believe that world-class medical services should be accessible to all, regardless of financial status. Our hospital provides advanced treatments, emergency care, and specialized services while also supporting various government initiatives to offer free and affordable healthcare. In addition to medical services, we actively engage in social initiatives aimed at community well-being. Our mobile health units bring essential healthcare to various communities, ensuring that those without access to medical facilities receive timely treatment.
We support vulnerable groups through programs that provide healthcare, nutrition, and essential resources to children, elderly individuals, and people in need. Empowerment is at the core of our mission. We run skill development programs to help individuals, especially women, gain financial independence through vocational training. Our self-help groups and education initiatives strengthen communities by promoting self-sufficiency and long-term growth.

Why a cathlab here
Cardiac problems are rising globally — with higher use of cardiac medicines, more bypass and angioplasty procedures, and growing neurological burden as well. At our rural and semi-urban hospital we see the same pattern: more patients with cardiac disease, hypertension, angina, diabetes, paralysis, and related conditions, often driven by lifestyle, food, stress, and economic strain — including after the COVID pandemic.
Patients come from Sangli, Satara, Solapur, Kolhapur districts in Maharashtra and bordering areas of Karnataka, facing significant socio-economic challenges. At our hospital we can provide cardiovascular consultation, but without a cardiac cathlab we cannot perform interventional procedures for those who need them most — labourers, farmers, and industrial workers with limited income.
Economic situation
- The region's economy is primarily agrarian, heavily dependent on monsoon rains, making income unpredictable.
- A large section of the population works as informal labour in small-scale industries and sugarcane farms with minimal social security.
- Migration to urban centres for better job prospects is common, leading to workforce imbalance.
Social situation
- Healthcare facilities in remote areas are inadequate, making access to basic medical services difficult.
- Malnutrition, anaemia, and chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and stroke are prevalent due to lack of awareness and preventive care.
Project goal
Cardiac cathlab in a rural charitable hospital aims to provide advanced cardiac diagnostic and treatment services by improving access, enhancing quality of care, reducing delays in diagnosis, and lowering upstream treatment costs for a rural community. Key goals include offering services at free / subsidized rates, facilitating faster and more accurate diagnosis, reducing the incidence of complications, and enabling financial savings by preventing complex conditions.
